MC Rental, part of the MC Group, is pleased to announce the expansion of its dedicated vehicle hire and pre‑owned site to support the company’s continued fleet growth and enhance operational efficiencies. The newly developed area, located opposite the existing premises, is scheduled for completion by early April 2026.
Purpose of the Expanded Site
The project includes the creation of a newly improved fully tarmacked, one acre parking and display area dedicated to non-Volvo preowned vehicles, improving visibility and giving customers easier access to available stock. The expansion also introduces a new onsite vehicle maintenance facility, significantly reducing reliance on external workshops for available vehicles and improving sustainability through streamlined internal processes.
“This expansion marks an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to elevating de-hire and re-hire of available vehicles by driving operational excellence,” said Nick Thorne, Head of Fleet Maintenance. “Gaining greater control over our onsite maintenance not only strengthens sustainability but also minimises unnecessary vehicle movements.”
The new display area allows MC Rental to enhance its pre‑owned proposition, giving customers:
• A broader selection of commercial vehicles
• Faster availability
• Improved onsite viewing and stock organisation
• Confidence in vehicles that have undergone thorough inspection prior to sale or hire
This development helps businesses access reliable and competitively priced assets without the long lead times associated with new vehicle orders.
New Facilities and Operational Improvements
As part of the expansion, MC Rental has developed a fully equipped four bay workshop capable of supporting a higher volume of inspections and servicing. Key features include:
• Four post mobile lifts to enable use across all bays
• Built-in compressed air supply
• Three phase electrical points
• Integrated oil reels to support efficient servicing workflows
These upgrades enable faster turnaround times for scheduled services, increasing overall vehicle availability.
“The new workshop will make a remarkable difference to service responsiveness,” added Gina Ritrovato, Director of Business Development “With everything under one roof, we can work more efficiently processing vehicles quicker.”
Supporting Strategic Growth
In 2025, MC Rental recorded its first organic fleet growth since the COVID‑19 pandemic, with further increases expected over the next two years. The site expansion ensures the company’s operational capacity keeps pace with a growing and increasingly diverse fleet.
Investment and Local Impact
MC Rental has committed significant investment to the project, with long-term cost efficiencies expected to offset the initial outlay. The company has already expanded its workforce and anticipates possible future job opportunities as the fleet continues to grow.
Delivering the project in partnership with Coppard Plant Hire Ltd, an existing MC Group customer, also highlights the company’s commitment to supporting local suppliers via reciprocal business.
“We’ve built a strong working relationship with MC Group over the years, so being involved in the site improvements was a natural fit,” said Brendan Coppard from Coppard Plant Hire Ltd.
Customer and Industry Benefits
Customers will benefit from:
• Faster servicing and inspection turnaround times
• Improved vehicle availability
• Enhanced access to pre‑owned stock
The expanded workshop and yard space strengthen MC Rental’s ability to respond quickly to customer needs across all sectors.
A Timely Opportunity
The opportunity to expand arose following the end of a third-party lease. MC Rental has since refurbished the workshops and optimised the hardstanding areas to support its growing operations.
“The timing couldn’t have been better,” said Mark Barton, Director at MC Rental. “The vacant facility allowed us to reinvent the space in a way that directly supports our offering to customers and positions us strongly for the future.”
Sustainability & Efficiency Benefits
While the project centres on refurbishing an existing facility rather than building new infrastructure, the expansion delivers clear sustainability advantages, including:
• Reduced vehicle movements with more servicing completed onsite
• Lower emissions due to fewer transport requirements
• More efficient workflow planning and reduced idle time
• Optimised use of an existing asset, avoiding the environmental impact of new development
These improvements reinforce MC Rental’s commitment to responsible, sustainable fleet management.
