East Kent Recycling Boost Fleet with Variety of New Volvo Trucks from MC Truck and Bus
To further enhance its operations, East Kent Recycling has strengthened its fleet with 23 new Volvo trucks supplied by MC Truck & Bus. Specifically, the mixed model order includes FL, FE, and FMX trucks, showcasing Volvo’s versatility in meeting a wide range of transport needs.
A Diverse Fleet for Every Role
Managed by Mark Reeves, Truck Sales Executive at MC Truck & Bus, the order includes:
Operating from East Kent Recycling’s Dover depot, these trucks bring the company’s Volvo fleet total to 25 out of 26 vehicles, demonstrating a strong and lasting partnership.

Speaking on the decision, Ky Campion, Director at East Kent Recycling, explains:
“We’ve always trusted Volvo for reliability and build quality. When it came time to refresh the fleet, no other brand offered such a complete package. These trucks are vital to our operations, and knowing they’re supported by Volvo’s service network gives us complete confidence.”
The new FL and FE trucks feature DK8 engines producing 280 hp and 350 hp respectively. In addition the FE models are paired with Volvo’s 12-speed I-Shift transmission, delivering seamless gear shifts and smooth acceleration.
Moreover, the FMX hookloaders and tractor unit also use Volvo’s I-Shift technology, with D13K engines ranging from 420 hp to 540 hp, ensuring strength and efficiency across all tasks.
A standout feature of this delivery is the UK’s first DVSA and HSE approved skiploader modification that allows the stacking of two full skips at once. This innovation, developed in partnership with regulatory bodies, reduces journeys, cuts fuel consumption, and improves turnaround times.
“Working closely with HSE and DVSA, we developed a legally authorised system for double-stacking full skips,” adds Campion. “As a result, we’ve gained a real market advantage and was a key reason we chose Volvo trucks.”
All 23 vehicles come with a five year Volvo Gold Contract, providing preventive maintenance and full repair coverage. This ensures long-term reliability and peace of mind. On average each truck is expected to travel 60,000–80,000 km annually, operating five days a week. With this level of usage, durability and support are essential.
With over 45 years of experience, East Kent Recycling is a trusted independent waste management provider, processing over 250,000 tonnes of waste annually from its two recycling centres in Faversham and Tilmanstone.
