TRUCK AND BUS DEPOT DRIVES MAJOR REFURBISHMENT

MC Truck & Bus Ltd is giving the Test Lane, Nursling, service and sales centre a major overhaul and facelift.

The privately-owned commercial vehicle supplier and service provider, which took over the purpose-built site in 1998, is recladding, refurbishing and investing heavily in the facility.

This follows additional work won by the busy service, support and parts depot, conveniently sited close to Southampton’s container terminal, creates a potential need for more technicians.

MC aftermarket director Nigel Brooks said: “We are giving the depot a complete facelift, including new signage, a remodelled reception and much-improved customer-facing areas.

“The depot – a fantastic purpose built facility – is a hugely important part of our business and it needs to look the part.

“We are now winning extra business and this, combined with the depot overhaul, could well lead to more positions for technicians.”

General manager of the Southampton depot, which offers commercial servicing and repairs, a 24-hour breakdown call-out and a host of specialist HGV and PSV services, is Jim McPhillimey.

He said: “Our on-site investment at Test Lane is wholly intended to improve our already exemplary service for customers and provide an enhanced environment for both staff and the public.”

Rapid growth in the last few years landed the company a spot on the Financial Times’ list of Europe’s 1000 Fastest Growing Companies.

The independently-owned company – with origins as far back as 1968 – has eight depots across the south of England covering Essex, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and Dorset.

MC has also invested £250,000 in its own training school at its Maidstone, Kent, headquarters to ensure its technicians stay on top of changing technology and regulations – and provide the mechanics of the future.
