The company, which hires out, sells, services and maintains commercial vehicles from seven locations across the south east, has also been praised for its work in keeping essential transport services running during the Covid-19 pandemic.
MC Group was ranked 190th in the special Covid-19 edition of Top Track 250, published this week, with sales up nine per cent at £131.8 million and operating profits up by 11 per cent at £14.2 million.
Group Managing Director Simon Dawson: “We are naturally delighted to be included in this prestigious listing. It is testament to the loyalty, skill and dedication of our brilliant team at MC Group.
“Their hard work has, as ever, been consistently excellent in delivering the best possible service to clients, especially during the pandemic as we were able to keep vital transport supply routes open.”
He added: “Our successful results this year show that we remain a trusted supplier and partner to so many customers in the commercial vehicle world.
“We, like every other business, have been enduring particularly challenging trading conditions and have had to take some difficult decisions, but we face the future with renewed optimism and this accolade will spur us on wards and upwards.”
The 250 companies in the 16th edition of the Sunday Times PwC Top Track 250 achieved combined sales of £59.7bn, a 17 per cent increase year-on-year, and profits of £5.1bn, up 25 per cent.
They employed 405,000 people, up 15 per cent over the period, although some have since made redundancies. Despite tough trading conditions, 77 per cent said they were optimistic about their post-pandemic prospects.
Arif Ahmad, of title sponsor PwC UK, said: “There’s no doubt that 2020 has posed unprecedented challenges. But time and again, we’ve seen business leaders rising to that challenge, adapting their plans and taking the opportunity to innovate.
“This year, it’s more important than ever to recognise and congratulate the companies featured in the Top Track 250. They are the backbone of the UK economy.”
